Abdominoplasty
Abdominoplasty is used to correct anterior abdominal wall deformities.
Abdominal deformities resultant from the excess of skin and fatty tissue are unlikely to be improved by strenuous physical exercises or dieting. Sagging of skin of the anterior abdominal wall may be caused by significant weight loss over a short period of time. Besides, lots of women have experienced stretch-marks and lax tummy skin following pregnancy and child-birth. Apart from overstretched skin, overstretched muscles might frequently contribute to this problem. When this occurs, abdominoplasty not only removes excess fat but also tightens muscle corset.
Anterior abdominal wall deformity related to excess fat is frequently encountered in men. Excess fat combined with excess skin makes the abdomen sag like an «apron» below the groin area.
Both men and women can be candidates for abdominoplasty. The procedure allows not only correction of the deformed tummy, it also makes people feel more confident and comfortable, since they can wear any type of clothes they like with no necessity to camouflage their tummy.
There are different approaches to abdominoplasty that leave patients with noticeable incisional scars. We use a different technique, which gives maximal aesthetic improvement with minimal scars. Moreover, high-quality suturing materials that we use further reduce scar visibility.
Favorable cosmetic results may be achieved when abdominoplasty is combined with liposuction.
Abdomiplasty can be performed simultaneously with ventral hernia repair. These ventral hernias are often a source of trouble for many patients.
Abdominoplasty is performed under anesthesia. A 3-day postoperative hospital stay is usually required. For 1-3 postoperative days effective pain-relievers are normally taken. During next 10-14 days patients regularly attend hospital to have their dressings changed.
