It happened at the end of April 2007 during the aesthetic surgery congress held in New-York to mark the 40th anniversary of ASAPS. Not every surgeon can easily become an active member of ASAPS: an applicant needs to be recommended by other active members of ASAPS. The Society is known to have strict requirements both to its members' qualifications and their professional ethics. The process of decision-making regarding admittance of new members may take a very long time.
